Github Setup Commands

(This is mainly because I keep forgetting them and I don’t want to keep making new repositories to see these steps.)

Global setup:

Download and install Git, and then…

git config --global user.name "MY NAME"
git config --global user.email MY@EMAIL.COM

Next steps:

mkdir
cd MY-NEW-REPOSTORY
git init
touch README
git add README
git commit -m 'first commit'
git remote add origin git@github.com:GITHUB-USERNAME/MY-NEW-REPOSTORY.git
git push origin master

Existing Git Repo?

cd existing_git_repo
git remote add origin git@github.com:GITHUB-USERNAME/MY-NEW-REPOSTORY.git
git push origin master
